the politics of marketing…

May30

I will talk more about the situation when i know what’s happening. now that i have calmed down somewhat, i have opened my eyes somewhat. nevertheless, i am determined to shut someone out from my life if i find nothing but lies or exaggeration.

When i first heard the news though, i was staggered. i left my phone at home, along with all the rest of my intellectual capability. which meant, i locked housemate and me out. shit. eventually, due to my wonderful habit of airing the entire place out, my bedroom’s windows was wide open, albeit with a fly-net. so i climbed in. i found it funny that i fit, considering how much weight i have gained since i moved in.

anyways, let me discuss a few things with you all.

let it be known that clothes are not what you are. your behaviour and attitude is. while out grocery shopping yesterday, i met some of the most foul, uncouth people i have ever met. going to the mall, i waved down the bus. now, the sun does not shine directly at me, but bounces off the shiny plastic/glass bits of the bus. this can make bus numbers painful to read.

most buses slow down about 50 meters before the bus stop, only really picking up again mid-way through the front of the bus stop. when i waved at the bus, it was slightly after the 50 meters, so perhaps it was too late. however, he did see it, and unlike most drivers, he was also at the top speed possible, so he couldn’t afford to stop.

i know he saw me, coz he gave me a quick “sniff” look. whatever… i caught the next bus to catch up to the bus i need to take.

when i got on the bus, i didn’t say anything, nor made a face. people miss buses, buses make judgemental errors, that’s how it goes. instead, i got faced with a real curt and heavy, “there was no signal” from the bus driver.

“excuse me?”

“there was no signal from you.”

unfazed, i looked at him. “sun was in my eye, i couldn’t see.”

i hadn’t said anything. if you haven’t done anything wrong, why do you feel such a need to justify yourself? or perhaps you DELIBERATELY went past me? oh wait, you said there was no signal… did that meant you saw my wave but pretended not to see it then? i will never know, but he won’t look at me, nor even said goodbye when i left the bus and said my thanks.

at the mall, there were many people. not as bad as a sunday, but still pretty busy. with our trolley, housemate and i visited every aisle to make sure we haven’t forgotten anything. right at the milk section, this lady nudged my housemate aside just when he was pushing the cart forward, and bumped right infront of our cart to grab her milk. no thanks, no sorries, no excuse me. in her beautiful chanel coat, shiny leather boots and Australian government tag, she exuded the snootiness of her “class” and upbringing.

we decided the push the cart in such a way that forced her up against the fridge, she took a long stare at me, turned and stared at housemate too, and shook her head. and then she rubbed her Australian Government public servant tag in such a way you would think it was a diamond needing some polishing.

sure, housemate was in his chef pants, and chef boots, and i was in my torn jeans and crappy thin jumper. she was immaculate in her dressing, and her Australian Government tag. but if that wonderful tag meant she can be rude, full of herself, and constantly sniffing at us while we were walking from aisle to aisle, and just push us aside to get what she want, then we are doom.

there’s no need to step on others to get where you want to.

bitch.

exhaustion…

May28

funny… i have been doing so little, and yet i am so tired still.

training for new work starts on 4th of june. due to my visa restrictions, and because i had good training before, i think they are just making me do 4 hours a day worth of training for a whole week.

meanwhile, i have just been bumming around for the whole week, before exams, i think that addled my brains a little.

First thing i saw today on the newspapers was… about rape. The particular newspapers is rallying to try and change the system here on how rape cases are handled. from the newspaper’s point of view, the system is indeed horrifying. some cases can take up to 7 years, before the case goes through the court. and then, the state is not there to defend/represent the victims, but to do the charges.

at the end of the day, i reckon, for the victims it’s like living through that moment again, and again. you sit in court, defense will hit you with questions after questions, details after details.

“is this the man you met that night?”

“are you sure you were not intoxicated? are you long sighted?”

i think, the most painful thing, and stupidest question a defense can ask was to suggest the victims were moaning in pleasure rather than screaming for help or for the perpertrator to stop.

at the same time, i can understand where the system is coming from. there will be many times when people will fake molestations, rape, and so on, to get back at some undesirable people, or for certain effects.  hell, some mother’s had even make their own children sick so as to garner hospital’s staff attention.

but to drag a case on for 7 years… 10 sometimes. i think it’s wrong. these people needs to be off the streets, right away.
