MORTARS!!!
as much as i sometimes hate the people i work with, i recognize that i have to eventually WORK WITH them some how.
about a year and a half or so ago, a couple of my then colleagues realized how much i like games, and sought to “impress” me with their gaming skillz0r, knowledge and wtfever-else. I say sought, because really, they probably know how to play Need For Speed Underground, and that was it.
Don’t get me wrong, I am not terribly elitist when it comes to games - I suck at most of them. The thing is, they “sought” so as to make me feel like i “need” to look up to them. And “impressive” as they sound, they have never once cared to bring in their pcs for a real LAN showdown. There were big talks, even bigger descriptions “oh man, i bought a HUGE TANK AND I BAM BASH SLAM THE WHOLE MAP DOWN!!”
yeah ok.
With the current crew, there’s really only 1 left of those guys. Of them lot, I had say he talked the least shit, didn’t made him any better though.
Over the past 3 weeks, In an effort to “bond” better, I decided to try out gaming with them. I say try because 1) i haven’t played rts in ages; 2) I really didn’t like rts anyways; 3) i think paying to play games in such a wonderful technologically advance world is stupid. but, whatever you know? first time for everything.
I wouldn’t say I am hooked, but i tell ya, this is the smoothest (oh yes, despite the ups and downs) 3 weeks ever, and i have seen the “other” side of them. not only that though, i am having fun in games once again - and obviously learnt 2 very valuable lessons.
1) RTS is more fun as a group! (lol, i know, but i used to play them on my own haha)
2) Since I haven’t really played from about Red Alert 1’s era, I am just not used to 3d stuff. too used to small tiny tanks and trucks too. I have just been using foot soldiers - AND MORTARS ROCK!!
