exhaustion…
funny… i have been doing so little, and yet i am so tired still.
training for new work starts on 4th of june. due to my visa restrictions, and because i had good training before, i think they are just making me do 4 hours a day worth of training for a whole week.
meanwhile, i have just been bumming around for the whole week, before exams, i think that addled my brains a little.
First thing i saw today on the newspapers was… about rape. The particular newspapers is rallying to try and change the system here on how rape cases are handled. from the newspaper’s point of view, the system is indeed horrifying. some cases can take up to 7 years, before the case goes through the court. and then, the state is not there to defend/represent the victims, but to do the charges.
at the end of the day, i reckon, for the victims it’s like living through that moment again, and again. you sit in court, defense will hit you with questions after questions, details after details.
“is this the man you met that night?”
“are you sure you were not intoxicated? are you long sighted?”
i think, the most painful thing, and stupidest question a defense can ask was to suggest the victims were moaning in pleasure rather than screaming for help or for the perpertrator to stop.
at the same time, i can understand where the system is coming from. there will be many times when people will fake molestations, rape, and so on, to get back at some undesirable people, or for certain effects. hell, some mother’s had even make their own children sick so as to garner hospital’s staff attention.
but to drag a case on for 7 years… 10 sometimes. i think it’s wrong. these people needs to be off the streets, right away.
